Rimfire Revolver

This Belgian Rimfire revolver was used by the Mid-Clare IRA during the War of Independence (1919-1921).

County Clare was considered a hotbed of Republican activity by the British Authorities during the troubled years of the fight for Irish freedom.

Members of the Mid-Clare IRA under the leadership of Ignatius O'Neill led one of the most successful ambushes on a British Auxiliaries Patrol in Rineen.
