War of Independence Medal
Medals such as these were presented to men who had been actively involved in the Irish War of Independence, (1919-1921). There were four major IRA Brigade’s in the county in the East Clare, Mid-Clare, North and West Clare areas.
It is probable that the recipient was a member of the Mid-Clare IRA Brigade.
