Clare Museum Promotes Irish

Clare Champion, Friday, April 8, 2005

During Seachtain na Gaeilge recently, Clare Museum took the opportunity to launch the Irish versions of two of its touch screen computer Interactives in the Riches of Clare exhibition.

The Making of Clare’s Landscape and The Archaeology of Clare are computer interactives that trace the historical development of Clare through the archaeological and historical remains in the county. “While remedying the fact that none of our computer Interactives were available in the Irish language, it seemed most appropriate to announce the correction of the oversight during Seachtain na Gaeilge” said museum curator, John Rattigan. “It is also a long-term commitment to the promotion of the language that will continue long after Seachtain na Gaeilge has finished” he added.

With voiceovers of two of the three Interactives now translated into Irish, it is intended to have the John Philip Holland Interactive available in Irish by the end of 2005.
