Griffith Papers Exhibition
5th September – 24th October 2004
Clare County Archives are exhibiting a collection of recently acquired papers from the Griffith family in the Water Section in the Riches of Clare exhibition.
The papers document the lives of Rev. Julius Henry Griffith, who served as Rector of Drumcliffe and Killaloe from 1884. The family lived at the Rectory at 1 Bindon Street, Ennis.
The collection includes
correspondence, birth and marriage certificates, financial material, diaries,
photographs and press cuttings, and a family members eye-witness account of
one of naval history’s greatest tragedies, the sinking of the battleship
Victoria in the Lebanon on 22 June 1893.
