Context of Seminar
Clare Heritage Circle, the award winning County heritage network announces Seiminéar Oidhreachta for individuals or groups who have an interest or a connection with any area of Irish heritage or culture. The seminar involves high quality speakers on important areas of heritage……
The Clare Heritage Circle, formed in 2003 under ‘Objective 11’of the County Clare Heritage Plan 2003-2007 and was the initiative of the Clare Heritage Officer, Congella McGuire and the Clare Museum. It was established with the intention of co-ordinating the efforts of individual heritage operators in County Clare. We are a voluntary, not for profit group, who comprise nine heritage centres that are geographically and thematically representative of heritage in the county. The diversity within the group ensures that a huge variety of areas delineated in the Heritage Act, 1995 will benefit, as well covering areas that are not included. The CHC also significantly helps to accomplish fifteen of the stated objectives of Clare County Council as outlined in the County Clare Heritage Plan 2003- 2007.
Since 2003, the group have been involved in many initiatives, which aim to advance the preservation and promotion of heritage. These include the production of an internationally award-winning booklet, a rotating temporary exhibitions system, a joint Irish language project with Clare FM, a series of articles, a bi-annual newsletter and participation in Seachtain na Gaeilge as well as joint heritage and tourism promotion.
