fort excavated in 1934 by the
Third Harvard Archaeological Expedition led by
Hugh O’Neill Hencken. Good preservation led to
the recovery of one of the most important Iron
Age collections yet found in Ireland. Using modern
excavation techniques the Harvard expedition
marked the beginning of modern scientific
archaeological research in this country.
