Letter from Michael Davitt Michael Davitt (1846-1905) was founder of the Land League which sought the reform of the agrarian system in post-famine Ireland. He appears to have written this letter in Dalkey, Co. Dublin in January 1903 to a Mr. Moloney, despite having lost an arm in a factory accident in Lancashire at the age of 11. The letter reads: "Dear Mr. Mollony (sic), I will try and attend this Land and Labour Association meeting to which you invite me for the 8th of February. Kindly let me know in due course the shortest way of getting there by rail. Yours truly, Michael Davitt". Letter
