Polished Stone Axe

Polished Stone Axes date from the Neolithic or "New Stone Age" (4,000 - 2,000 BC). This axe was found in Ballyportry South, County Clare. The Neolithic people were Irelands first farmers, and domesticated animals and plants which are known to have been introduced by these farmers include cattle, sheep/goats (the bones of these animals were very similar in during the Neolithic), pigs, wheat and barley.
