Faith: The Riches of Clare

Nihil Chalice / Fr. Fogarty Chalice

The Nihil Chalice comes from St Tola's Church, Ruan. It is silver and carries many traditional Christian symbols engraved on its surface. It carries the inscription "Lawrence and Alice Nihil, donors, January 1st, 1713". The Fr Fogarty Chalice is also silver and is inset with semi-precious stones. Fr Daniel Fogarty, brother of Bishop Michael Fogarty, willed this chalice to the Sisters of Mercy, Ennis. It is inscribed "Pray for the soul of Fr Dan Fogarty PP, Toomevara, died 2 January, 1903, aged 54".
