Letter from Daniel O'Connell 19th Century political leader Daniel O'Connell is famous for his role in winning Catholic Emancipation in 1829, and also his opposition to the Act of Union. The letter dated 17 June 1828 is addressed to Andrew Stackpool seeking his support in the forthcoming election. Stackpool inherited estates in Lifford and Ballyalla, and was a prominent establishment figure in the Ennis area. O'Connell's
