Clare Regiment Buckle This buckle is from the uniform of the Clare Regiment Militia. During the 1798 rebellion, the Clare Militia fought at the Battle of New Ross in County Wexford. After the rebellion, a court-martial on 6 July 1798 at Waterford, found Corporal Curry, Privates Simon Ryan and Thomas Reilly of the Clare Regiment guilty of conspiracy to seize Waterford City. They had plotted to murder all but one of the officers in the Regiment. Ref: 2000.38 Anglo
