Poem by Eamon de Valera
This framed and glazed poem titled "Invocation to the Sacred Heart", was written by Eamon de Valera in Kilmainham Gaol on May 28, 1916 while awaiting execution for his role in the 1916 Rising. He was reprieved shortly after and was elected to Dail Eireann in the 1917 East Clare by-election.
