1578, 1579, 1580 Turlough O’Brien 1578, 1579, 1580. Turlough O’Brien, son of Donough, third Earl of Thomond, of whom we have already spoken in the war of 1573. He was suspected of treason, and arrested, 10th March, 1580.[11] The Four Masters say he was hanged after a year’s imprisonment, 26th May, 1580. His son Teige had no better fortune, for he, “after having been engaged in plundering, was taken in the country of the Butlers, and executed by the advice of the Earl of Ormond,” 1596.[12] |
