Mountfort Westropp of Kilkerin, second son and residuary legatee and executor of Thomas Westropp of Newham and Cornborough, county York, whose will, November 27th, 1656, he proved in London, January 30th, 1657 (Thomas is legatee in the wills of his granduncles Thomas, 1604, and Ralph, 1606, at York; they are mentioned in the Visitation of 1584, in which their descent is traced from John Westhorpe of Brompton, near Scarborough, and his wife, daughter and eventual heiress of John Thwenge of Cornborough, who died 1369).^[54] Mountifort migrated to Limerick, 1657, and was appointed comptroller of its port, February 18th, 1660.^[55] He purchased Kilkerin (Title-deed November 23rd, 1671) from W. Hamilton of Erenagh, county Down, and married Frances, daughter of John Taylor of Ballinort.^[56] His will, August 14th, 1698, proved at Dublin, October 15th, 1698.
