Buildings
and Stone Walls
Due to the wealth of archeological heritage in County Clare there
is a considerable quantity of old buildings and stone walls in the county.
Buildings and stone walls particularly old buildings provide important
habitats for many plant and animal species. Cracks and crevices in walls
are important for lichens, mosses and ferns and many bird and bat species
use them for breeding or hibernating.
