Ballaghaline

Barony of: Corcomroe, Parish: Killeany, Kilmoon and Killilagh
Location and Brief Description
It cannot be classed as either a town or village as there is no accommodation whatever for visitors. It is a very popular bathing place, being convenient to Lisdoonvarna which lies 4 miles to the east.

Description of beach (? Length, sandy, shingle, safe, currents, &c.):
Ballaghline beach is very rugged and broken, but there is a nice strand 50 yds wide when the tide is out. Diving off the pier is the greatest attraction (when tide is full). Total length of beach is one mile mostly sandy. Bathing is safe from the pier northwards for about 400 yds. There is a current about 400yds. Out in this portion and in the remaining part a strong overhead current makes bathing dangerous.
