Location and Brief Description:
Doora parish includes the sub parish of Barefield. It has no village
or town except the small cluster of houses called Barefield. It runs
from, (and includes) Ardsollus Railway Station, to the Ennis urban boundary,
and meets Crusheen and Quin parishes. Its only industry is agriculture.
It is a very undulating parish, and its good and bad land is just as
much mixed as its contour.

Barefield R.C. Church is a modern cut stone structure, rather small
and dark, has an organ gallery and nice altar.
Doora R.C. Church, “Cruciform”, very neat and clean, nicely
walled in new cemetery in the grounds.
Important Public Buildings (Give
brief notes on architectural features)
The Co. Clare Lunatic Asylum, a massive cut stone building with a beautiful
new re-inforced concrete chapel, hospital, and other buildings, houses
354 males, 260 females and a staff of 80 = Total 694 persons. There
are 115 acres in the farms and grounds, 45 acres under tillage, a herd
of cattle and pigs. The new electric therapeutic treatment installed
is facilitating the cures. This building is beautifully kept, and nearly
self-supporting.

Doora N.S. - A neat, very small school, with two lady teachers.
Barefield N.S. - A substantial, fairly new, four teacher school.
Knocknane N.S. - A small, fair conditioned school.

Location: No objection to camping along the waste spaces in
Doora parish.

Remarks
There are no hotels, guest or boarding houses, restaurants or cafés
in Doora parish.
The only village is Barefield with a population of about 25. This village
consists of two public houses, chapel, P. Office (letters only), N.
School and dispensary with a few other scattered houses.
