Sixmilebridge |
Barony
of: Bunratty,
Parish: Six-mile-bridge, Population:
320 |
Location and Brief Description:
Sixmilebridge is situated ten miles from Limerick,
fourteen miles from Ennis. A very uninteresting, fairly clean village,
built on a sloping hill, with a parish population of 1200. There is nothing
historical or romantic attached thereto. If O’Flynn’s Woollen
Mills was removed one could picture s-milebridge as one of the dullest
villages in Clare. Kilmurry village – three miles distant, has a
R.C. 100 year old church. A N. School, P.O. (letters only), forge and
public house.
Parks, Gardens and Recreation Grounds. Brief
description:
There are two hurling fields - one in Sixmilebridge the other in Kilmurry
- both are the average size, with a fair surface and are use principally
for practice purposes.
Brief comments on water supply and sewerage:
The two pumps of the village are in good condition. The water is good
for domestic purposes. No sewerage system exists in the village.
