Captain Kennedy to the Commissioners - July 31, 1848
IN reference to my Report, forwarded about the 5th and 6th of this
month, on the subject of the numerous evictions in this Union, I have now the honour to
forward a return of 52 families, numbering 281 souls, who were evicted from one small
property in Moyarta division in one day; 52 houses belonging to these people were unroofed
and thrown down in one day and part of a second. This return is strictly correct as to
names and numbers, and substantially so in other particulars.
I have further returns in preparation, and will forward them when completed.
