(a) Music

The following items are worthy of note:

Barron School of Song and Dance

The legendary Kerry teacher of song and dance, Paddy Barron, taught in the area for a few years around the year 1890. He obtained lodgings at Egan's in Coolsippeen. He taught the children by day and the adults by night and in no time he had students competing at feiseanna. Michael Kelly from Lack was a pupil of the Barron school.

Lack School Band

Through the 1960s the playing of musical instruments was taught in the school by the principal Noel Conway. A school band was formed consisting mainly of whistles and melodicas.

St. Cecelia's CCE

A very successful branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann operated in the parish through out the 1990s under the chairmanship of John Hehir (Lack School 1957). It organised music classes, music sessions, concerts and ceili in the area. A number of its members, including residents from the school catchment area, won all Ireland medals in the various competitions throughout this period.
