Ordnance Survey Letters by John O'Donovan and Eugene Curry, 1839

Part II. Letters and Extracts relative to Ancient Territories of Thomond, 1841

XVII. Hy-Thoirdhealbhaigh

This territory is described by O’Heerin as lying about Killaloe, and it is highly probable that it was co-extensive with the parish of Killaloe. It appears from all the references we have relating to it that it was bounded on the north by the Territory of Hy-Conghaile, on the east by the Shannon, on the south and south west by the said river of Shannon, and on the west by Glen-Omra. The level part of this territory is called Magh-Ua-dToirdhealbhaigh in the Annals of the Four Masters at the year 1192.
