Fine Thing

by Susan Virsano

A woman of thirty-seven
Is still worth a glance,
Worth leading a dance.

Buy her rum and coke.
Brush her elbow.
Make a lewd joke.

No need to worry,
No need to care
Whether she opens the door
Or leaves you there.
What the hell.
Give her your style,
Your only-for-you-darling smile.

Tell her she’s an angel,
Tell her you’re in heaven
With your one of thirty-seven.

After all
Everybody knows
You’re dead sound
She’s been around.
