This Integrated Profile of County
Clare provides a description of the conditions under which the people
of the County live and work. Its primary purpose is to provide the Clare
County Development Board with comprehensive baseline information for strategic
planning purposes and to provide a benchmark against which development
and progress may be measured in the future. It will also act as a planning
resource for local development organisations and voluntary groups operating
within Clare. The Profile has been compiled by the County Development Board from a wide range of published data sources as well as from information provided by local organisations and agencies. In general, the profile presents a range of summary data, but reference is made throughout the document to sources which provide more detailed information. Much of the information in this Profile has been taken from statistics in the 1996 Census; the findings of the forthcoming Census in 2002 will be incorporated into future editions of the Profile. |
