Qualifications: B.Sc. Glasgow University, 1978

Ruth has trained in Storytelling as a Healing Art, in Steiner Education, as a teacher of Circle Dance. She has taught creative writing, storytelling and story making with teenagers and adults in schools and community groups for many years; has given storytelling and crafts sessions in the Clare Museum, in libraries around Clare and has performed at festivals around the country.

Ruth is the author of two books: Celebrating Irish Festivals (Hawthorn Press, 2003) a hands-on guide to seasonal festivals, with crafts, games, stories, recipes, folklore and songs. Her latest book Clare Folk Tales (The History Press, 2013) is a collection of gentle stories from Co Clare.

Ruth also visits schools as a ‘Heritage Expert’ through the Heritage in Schools scheme. She teaches creative writing at Alfa-Raheenwood, Tuamgraney.
