AIM OF THE SCHEME
The Arts Office of Clare County Council
invites submissions for this scheme, the aim of which is to give pupils
the opportunity to work with a professional artist on a once-off project
to be planned between the artist and the school. The scheme is open to
artists from any artistic discipline including visual arts and crafts,
music, dance, drama, literature, film, architecture, photography, and
new media. The scheme will be offered in two strands: Arts Space and Arts
The project will fund artist contact time in the school
for 30 hours.
The project will fund a one day specific workshop in
Points to note when making an application:
- No school is automatically entitled to a residency.
- Successful residencies are awarded by an independent
panel who base their decisions on the quality of the projects proposed
and the quality of the partnership demonstrated between the school and
the artist. The Artist~Schools guidelines'
may assist you in this regard.
- If a mural is being proposed the project must clearly
outline how a 30 hour residency will be spent on a mural.
- Applications will be marked along the following lines:
- Quality of the application (time frame / realistic
/ creative) (40 marks)
- Quality of artists work (30 marks)
- Potential to leave a creative impact on the school
All schools are welcome to apply for both schemes except
for those who have participated in the 2017/2018 school year
A maximum of one award will be made per school. No school
or artist is guaranteed an award and the scheme will be adjudicated by
an independent selection panel. The number of awards will be dependent
on the funding available to the County Arts Office.
Schools may apply for both an Arts Space and an Arts
Day with the same or different artists.
Clare County Council will contact all applicants to advise
them of the outcome of their application. This decision is final and the
Council reserves the right to refuse an application without entering into
correspondence in the matter.
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday, September
