AIM OF THE SCHEME
The Clare Arts Office Artists in Schools Programme is designed to create opportunities for artists and schools to work together over a specific duration of time. We favour projects that are innovative, unique and that foster creativity, skills development and an introduction to the language used in art making. We also encourage projects that introduce children to experience the cross disciplinary nature of the arts, projects which connect ideas and art making to other subjects e.g. history, science, the environment, local, national and global cultures and traditions. Projects can include curated talks and tours.
The Artists in Schools Residency is a vibrant arts and education programme funded by the Arts Council of Ireland.

Arts Space

The project will fund artist contact time in the school for 30 hours.

Arts Days

The project will fund a one day specific workshop in the school.

Points to note when making an application:

  • No school is automatically entitled to a residency.
  • Successful residencies are awarded by an independent panel who base their decisions on the quality of the projects proposed and the quality of the partnership demonstrated between the school and the artist. The Artist~Schools guidelines' may assist you in this regard.

Projects will be assessed according to the following criterias below.

  • Quality and innovation of the concept/idea for the proposal.
  • Quality of the artists work and track record as demonstrated by CV and support images of artists previous work.
  • Feasability of the proposed project, budget, time frame, number of students etc.
  • Potential for the project to leave creative impact on the school.

GENERAL CRITERIA:

Schools who participated on the scheme last year and schools who are participating in the Department of Education’s Creative Schools and Creative Clusters scheme may not apply in 2019
Ineligible Schools 2019/2020

A maximum of one award will be made per school. No school or artist is guaranteed an award and the scheme will be adjudicated by an independent selection panel. The number of awards will be dependent on the funding available to the County Arts Office.

Schools may apply for both an Arts Space and an Arts Day with the same or different artists.

Clare County Council will contact all applicants to advise them of the outcome of their application. This decision is final and the Council reserves the right to refuse an application without entering into correspondence in the matter.

The closing date for applications is 5 pm on Friday, September 20th, 2019.
