Siobhán Mulcahy took up the position of Arts Officer with Clare County Council in October 1999.
A graduate of the University of Limerick, Siobhán holds an Honours BA in European Studies and an Honours PostGraduate Diploma in Business Administration.
On leaving college Siobhán joined the Clonmel Arts Community Employment Scheme where she edited and designed START Magazine, a bi-monthly Arts and Cultural Magazine covering the South Tipperary region. During her time in Clonmel, Siobhán was based in the South Tipperary Arts Centre.
Following this Siobhán was promoted to become the Artistic Director of the South Tipperary Arts Centre. The South Tipperary Arts Centre opened in April 1996 and since then has become one of Irelands most vibrant community arts centres. The Arts Centre housed a contemporary gallery space and a workshop facility. During her time here Siobhán hosted exhibitions by some of Irelands most renowned contemporary artists such as John Keating and Alice Maher. She was also responsible for devising an Outreach Arts Programme for the whole county.
As well as running the Arts Centre, Siobhán continued her original job producing START Magazine on a quarterly basis. Siobhán was also very involved in Tóstal, the Network of Irish Arts Centres, and produced and edited the Guide to Irish Arts Centres, 1997.
Siobhán comes to the position of Arts Officer with Clare County Council with an experience in organising exhibitions, festivals and community arts projects. She very much looks forward to the challenges ahead, in keeping Clare to the forefront of the Arts in Ireland.
