Community Arts Development Worker

Ballincollig Senior Citizen's Club Ltd. is a dynamic support organisation involved in the promotion of self-help and empowerment of older people.  Working with over 400 people in Ballincollig and surrounding areas the company is engaged on a significant development programme that will provide an enhanced range of services for this sector in the coming years.  With an already established arts programme the company now wishes  to appoint a Community Arts Development Worker
to further the integration of the arts within the overall programme under recognised community development structures.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified/experienced persons for the above position.. It is intended to offer a contract on a part-time basis over one year.

The successful applicant will have:
· Proven track record in the area of community arts wok
· Administrative and management skills
· Communication and listening skills
· Some experience of working with older people
· Understanding of Community Development Structures.
 
Job Description
· To assist in the further development and integration of the arts within the overall programme of the organisation.
· To plan for the future needs and service provision to older people.
· To access funding sources
· To initiate new programmes in such areas as photography and craftwork
· To manage the project in line with best practice in community development
· To liase closely with participants, tutors and other personnel.
· To further enhance and develop links with statutory and voluntary health and arts agencies.

Terms and Conditions.
Employment will be on a part- time contract basis of ten hours per week for a period of 50 weeks(subject to negotiation).
Payment rate will be £10 per hour.  This rate does not include subsistence and other expenses which are to be agreed.
The Community Arts Development Worker will be contracted on a self-employed basis and is therefore responsible for own PRSI and Tax payments.
The Community Arts Development Worker will report directly to the Project Director, Mr. Noel Byrne.

Commencement period of October 2000.
