Clare County Councils newly appointed arts officer, Siobhán Mulcahy, is currently embarking on a county wide arts development plan. This plan will be the basis for the County Councils arts policy and programming over the coming years.
Clare has long been associated with the arts especially traditionally music and dance. In recent years other art forms such as drama, visual art and sculpture have developed significantly. From community arts projects to international festivals, Clare has a vibrant arts community. The number of local arts initiatives happening throughout the county highlights the developments that have taken place in community arts in recent years.
The forthcoming plan aims to build on the work already done by the artists and people of Clare. This plan will aid the Arts Officer in programming arts activities throughout the county in tandem with those projects already taking place.
Clare County Council invite all interested parties to make written submissions to the plan. They are particularly interested in hearing ideas as to how to develop the arts in the new millennium, how to develop audiences for the arts and how to encourage more people to participate in the arts. Whether you are a group or an individual, the Arts Office would be happy to receive your ideas in writing. These will then be taken into account while shaping the plan.
Submissions should be made in writing or on tape to The Arts Officer, Library Headquarters, Mill Road, Ennis, Co. Clare by February 25th, 2000.
