Following an open competition Michael McTigue was awarded the commission to create a feature wall in the internal courtyard of the housing development.
Michael's main proposal was to create a traditional hearth and to utilise the remaining space to create motifs that would be of interest to the residents,
He spent time reminiscing with the residents and discovering what they would like to portray on the courtyard wall and working from this a series of stone works was created and installed.
These works include a map of the parish, with the river running through it, sporting heroes, music and farming and wildlife scenes, all associated with Kilmaley and the surrounding areas.
It also includes wording from one of the songs written by John Tunney, commissioned under the previous Per Cent for Art Scheme at this location.
