The Maugherow Community Arts Education Pilot Project was initiated by Sligo County
Council in conjunction with St. Patrick's NS, Ballinfull in March 1998. This
intergenerational project is exploring, evaluating and documenting the potential of using
arts-based activity in a rural primary school, as a resource for promoting social
inclusion in rural communities with a particular emphasis on older members of the
community.
Sligo County Council and St. Patrick's NS have set up a management steering group to
direct the final phase of this project, which includes the North Western Health Board and
County Sligo Leader Partnership Company.
To support this process, Sligo County Council now wish to recruit a
PROJECT LEADER - MAUGHEROW COMMUNITY ARTS EDUCATION PILOT PROJECT
Duties of the post will include;
· Leading and facilitating the participants and the partners towards realising the
objectives of the project.
· Developing and managing the final phase of the project.
· Planing and co-ordinating the artistic programme including weekly workshops, exhibition
and seminar.
· Co-ordinating the evaluation and documentation of the work of the project.
· Disseminating the policy and practice recommendations arising from the work of the
project to the relevant health, educational and cultural agencies.
The appointment will initially be on a one year full-time contract basis.
