Clare County Council’s Arts Office is delighted to announce that it is one of only 6 counties that will host ‘The Craft of Acting’ – a two day acting workshop with international actor John O’Hare. John toured Ireland last year with Skehana Productions and gave a number of workshops country-wide to critical acclaim. As a result of this success, John will be giving a two day course in Glor Music Centre, Ennis on Wed 27th and Thurs 28th of August 2003.
The course is ideally aimed at young semi-professional actors, but it will also be of interest to those involved in amateur dramatics. In particular, the course would be very valuable to students looking to pursue drama studies. The course will examine ‘The Craft of Acting’ and will work shop the process of both the most common and the most difficult obstacles in acting.
John will be joined on the second day of the course by Deirdre Molloy, a well known Irish actress who has appeared on Fair City and more recently starred in ‘Doldrum Bay’ at the Peacock.
The Craft of Acting is being promoted by Skehana productions and is being supported by the County Arts Office. The Arts Council of Ireland is also supporting the course through their Critical Voices programme.
According to Siobhán Mulcahy, County Arts Officer ‘ This course provides a wonderful opportunity for aspiring actors to work with an international professional who has received critical acclaim throughout his career. It is both an honour and a wonderful opportunity to have ‘the Craft of Acting’ visit Clare and the Arts Office is delighted to support this course as part of its commitment to developing the capacity of artists in the county’.
The course cost is €50 and places are strictly limited. Application forms are available from the County Arts Office, Library Headquarters, Mill Road, Ennis, Co. Clare. Tel: 065-6846267 or email email@example.com
