Ennis Sculpture Initiative

The Dromore Woods Sculpture Trail, organised by sculptor Carmel Doherty was the inspiration for the Ennis Sculpture Initiative. The Initiative is an award-winning model of partnership between the private and public sector and has complimented the many changes enveloping the dynamic town of Ennis.

Noel Crowley, County Library and Dónal Griffin of FÁS currently administer the Ennis Sculpture Initiative. It is a partnership between Clare County Council, Ennis Urban District Council and FÁS and is supported by the Mid Western Health Board. It has also received much local support and assistance.

The Ennis Sculpture Initiative has installed numerous sculptures along the riverside in Ennis, as well as creating street furniture in the town centre. The sculpture trail takes many forms depicting cultural, historical and sporting events as well as more abstract pieces.
