The Exhibition will be opened by Fintan O'Toole at 2pm, Saturday 6th August
at the BURREN COLLEGE OF ART
The Burren Annual was established in 2004 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Burren College of Art. The aim was to establish an internationally significant annual exhibition that would become a landmark in the Irish art world and that would extend the College’s commitment to innovation in fine art - beyond the provision of the highest quality fine art education. This second Burren Annual is a significant step to fulfilling these aims.
Burren College of Art is an internationally recognised not-for-profit independent college specialising in undergraduate and graduate fine art education. The BCA offers artists and art students from around the world time, space and inspiration within the unique environment of the Burren. The College’s Master of Fine Art programme is accredited by the National University of Ireland, Galway and is operated in association with the Royal College of Art, London and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The BCA’s undergraduate Study Abroad programmes, Summer School and Artist Residency Scheme also recruit internationally.
‘ We are delighted that Kevin Kavanagh accepted our invitation to curate this exhibition, and we are deeply grateful to Clare County Council and the Bank of Ireland for their sponsorship without which the exhibition could not have been possible.’
Professor Timothy Emlyn Jones, Dean, Burren of Art
The exhibtion will run from August 6th to September 16th 2005
