    Sean Keane in Concert
    The Cliffs of Moher. All proceeds from the event will go to support the local RNLI and all the artists and the Cliffs Centre are giving their time and the venue free of charge. Sean will be supported by Tara Breen fiddle, Edel Fox concertina, singer Jennifer Ryan and harpist Meabh de Buitleir. Drinks reception at 7pm.

  • Tuesday December 11th
    Guest at The Old Kilfarboy Society will be multi-instrumentalist Michael Tubridy. Originally from Kilrush, Michael was formerly a member of The Castle Ceili Band and Sean O'Riarda's Ceoltoiri Chuilann and a founder member of The Chieftains. The title for the event is 'Reminiscences of Music and Dancing in West Clare'

    Gallery at DeValera Library, Ennis
    The Wrong Way Home
    An intriguing art exhibition by Hungry Magpie - an artists' collective comprising of Aoife Cassidy, Marie Connole, Jackie Knight and Phillina Sun will take place in the DeValera Gallery in from November 30th to December 8th. 'The Wrong Way Home' will deal primarily with escapism and delve into the symbolism of fairytales, personal experiences and psychological states. Fantastical, fictionalised and fabricated worlds will be evoked and represented in this collaboration. This interlude from the real, physical world into the imaginative will be realised through various media including video, installation, painting, drawing and writing.

Stimulating and informative discussions, workshops and panels will feature contributions from Paddy Moloney (The Chieftains), Martin Hayes (fiddle), Bob Donnelly (Music attorney) and others.

  • Tuesday, November 6th
    The Old Kilfarboy Society will be presenting a talk, entitled "The Instruments of the Passion on Gravestones in Ireland", on the elaborate carvings to be found on the headstones of many of the graves in this country. The main speaker will be Diarmuid O'Keeffe of Clonmel, who will deal with the subject nationwide. He will be assisted by Donal DeBarra, giving an account of what is to be found in West Clare, and John Daly of Quilty discussing the symbols of Freemasonry which are often included on gravestones.

    The Mary Stokes Trio Live in Sixmilebridge
    Mary Stokes, Brian Palm and Paul Lambert form this trio.
    Their gig at the Winter music Festival last January featured harmonica, guitar and vocal performances that left anyone who attended with memories of a rare night of acoustic blues. This gig will give you an opportunity to see a different side of Ireland's premier blues singer who is touring Holland in October before featuring in the Cork Jazz Festival.

    Willie Keane Memorial Weekend in Doonbeg
    This is the eighth running of the festival which celebrates the life of one of Ireland's most gifted traditional dancers, Willie Keane. The weekend encompasses traditional music, singing and dancing sessions, ceilthe, workshops, and a concert. The concert this year features singer, Sean Keane, and Lisseycasey native, Noel Hill.     The Old Kilfarboy Society will by opening its new programme with a talk on The MacBrodies, poets of West Clare. The family once occupied Doonogan Castle and were hereditary poets to the MacGorman and O Brien families.
    The speaker will be Liam P O Murchu from University College, Cork and the event will take place at The Malbay, The Square, Miltown Malbay, commencing at 8pm. All are welcome.
    Future talks will include Reminiscences of Music and Dancing in West Clare By Michael Tubridy and The Folklore of Trees and Plants, By Niall Mac Coitir.

    Week long course (Time: 10.00am to 4.00pm.)
    Art to Heart is offering a unique opportunity to participate in a week of collective art making, personal exploration and debate. This training programme is for people working with children. If you are a youth leader, social worker, teacher, child care worker or community artist that is working with children and want to learn more about how to nurture, foster and develop children's creative potential, then this training programme is for you.
    No artistic experience is necessary to attend the programme.

    The Old Kilfarboy Society will be holding its first meeting of 2007. Local man, Willie Healy will be talking to Tom Munnelly about the part he and other members of his family played in the social life of Miltown Malbay over the last fifty years. This included circuses, travelling theatres (fit-ups), magic shows and musical events.
    This will take place at The Malbay, The Square, Miltown Malbay and will commence at 8.00 p.m.
