Inis Artist’s Summer Exhibition

The Clare Museum are to host a visual arts exhibition showcasing new work by the Inis Artists group. The Inis Artists are a group of local artists all based in and around county Clare. With members’ work covering a wide variety of media across many different styles and themes, they aim to bring a creative mix to each exhibition and to offer something of interest for all tastes. The Inis Artists summer exhibition runs from the 2nd – 28th of July at the Clare Museum and all works are for sale.Contact: bkellyfairyfield@eircom.net

Arts in Focus

Kilkee Civic Trust present Arts in Focus - Honouring Local Talent through Music, Drama, Song & Dance. This annual event launches the entertainment events provided by Kilkee Civic Trust over the summer months.
This is a free event, but tickets will only be available on the evening of the show from 7pm on a first come basis. Show starts at 8pm. For more information ring the box office on 065 9060769.

The Light Runners

The Light Runners were formed in 2014 by Lazare Mbouwoua, from the Central African Republic. The lead singer and front man of the group who’s passionate and enigmatic performances have brought people of all ages to the dance floor all over Europe & Africa. Apart from their ever growing list of self-written reggae and funk tunes, The Light Runners also like to re-live those popular reggae classics we all know and love; hits by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Lucky Dube to name a few. As the night progresses Lazare’s voice appears to get closer and closer to those whose songs he is singing, by the end of the night it seems like Bob, Peter and Lucky were also ‘in the room’. The Light Runners reggae ‘versions’ of songs by Jimmy McCarthy and Chuck Berry are always a popular hit with the Irish audiences that they have visited on their tours around Ireland in the last 3 years. A Place Between the Pines by Fine Art Photographer Paul Corey

Scariff Library Gallery presents ‘’A Place between the Pines ‘’ an exhibition of fine art photography by photographer Paul Corey. Ennis-based photographer Paul Corey will be exhibiting his fine art photography at Scariff Library, from the 9th of July to August 4th. The show is Paul’s first public solo exhibition and features a series of photographs each depicting different actresses, each wearing white dresses, set against the stunning Clare landscape. Paul’s aim is to create sweeping narratives within his photographs, photographs that are taken in a variety of locations. Each photograph in the exhibition tells a story, inviting interpretation. For Paul, storytelling is what photography is all about. “My goal was to create breath-taking images that contain many layers so the viewer could spend time with and create their own narrative/story’’.

The Jeanette MacDonald Profile

Kilkee Civic Trust are delighted to welcome back Martin Bourke with The Jeanette MacDonald Profile. In the 1930’s and ‘40’s Jeanette MacDonald was a movie superstar recognised and acclaimed throughout the world. The release in Hollywood of a film featuring Jeanette MacDonald with one of her stable of leading actors such as Clarke Gable, Spencer Tracey, Tyrone Power, Ramon Novarro, Maurice Chevalier and of course Nelson Eddy, was a major event, which was frequently covered by global press agencies. In the first of two profiles this Summer, Martin Bourke will profile this remarkable woman followed on Friday, 10th August 2018 with a profile of Nelson Eddy, her film co-star and successful opera, concert and nightclub singer. These Profiles in aid of the Kilkee Civic Trust are presented by Martin Bourke who has given us profiles on the composer Stephen Foster, singers Mario Lanza, John McCormack and Richard Tauber in the past. Adrian Knight

Adrian Knight is one of Ireland’s foremost comedy hypnotists. He has delighted and excited audiences for more than 15 years, playing to packed shows, entertaining tens of thousands of people every year. Johnny Carroll

Johnny Carroll has been performing for the last 6 decades. He is known to his fans as the ‘Man with the Golden Trumpet’. He is a native of Roscommon and was encouraged by his father, at the age of 12 to join the local brass band. He subsequently joined the Pioneer Aces, an irish showband and began his professional career aged 13. This band renamed as The Premier Aces topped the charts in Irish and the UK . They were also one of the first bands to break into the music scene in America. When they disbanded, Carroll formed The Magic Band. He eventually struck a deal with Harmack Records and released a number of albums of easy listening medleys, which were successful across the country. He later began a very successful solo career. He not only made his mark on the Irish scene but internationally also, having met some of the greats in music including Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Jim Reeves and Roy Orbison. Show starts 8pm. ‘Landmarks’ Art Exhibition by Kaye Maahs and Sara Foust

Landmarks is an exhibition of paintings by Sara Foust and Kaye Maahs two visual artists who both live and work in Clare and whose work is inextricably linked with the landscape that surrounds them. Each artist brings to their work their own interpretation and relationship with the natural world captured through the medium of paint. Memories, by Brid Quinlan
Clare Museum, Ennis

Bríd Quinlan is a self-taught artist from Limerick, she works mainly in the medium of oils and has been drawing and painting all her life. Since retiring recently from teaching, Bríd has been able to devote more time to her art work. To date she has exhibited her work in Scarriff, CB1 Gallery, Limerick City and The Heritage Centre, Adare. The works in this ‘’Memories’’ exhibition are inspired by the ever-changing aspect of nature. They also include paintings of sights around Limerick City.
Whether you have five minutes or an hour to spare, call in to the Clare Museum in Ennis, relax and allow these colourful works to evoke a memory for you. The exhibition runs from the 30th July – 31st August, 2018 inclusive at the Clare Museum, Ennis.
