Festival of Finn

Now in it's 6th year, the Festival of Finn will run over the May Bank Holiday weekend. Incorporating the World Stone Throwing Championships, Irish Beard & Moustache Championships, Festival & Fancy Dress Parade, Lark at the Lake, Concerts, Market & much more.

Burren Slow Food Festival
Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare.

The theme of this years festival is "Taste the Atlantic - A Seafood Journey and it will be a celebration of seafood and whiskey, covered by talks, tastings and cookery demos destined to entertain and educate.
Why is it a great weekend for foodies? Do things that you might not easily get around to do, like soaking up knowledge through talks and cookery demos; getting to know small producers and their products, and being able to ask them all kinds of questions right there and then; and tasting wonderful samples of what the sea and the Irish soil have to offer.

Féile Chnoc na Gaoithe, Tulla Traditional Music Festival
Tulla, Co. Clare.

A weekend of traditional music, song and dance with concerts, C.D. launches, singing and music sessions, workshops and recitals. Gala concert on Saturday 12th May in Tulla Courthouse with Frankie Gavin, Noel Hill and Brian McGrath.

Michelle Whelan Kennedy
Cultúrlann Sweeney

Cultúrlann Sweeney presents ‘’ Golden Moments, Silver Clouds’’ by visual artist Michelle Whelan Kennedy. In this series of paintings Michelle captures the essence of living joyfully in beautiful seascapes that are shaped by nature, the ever changing sky and its unfolding character around her. The exploration of light takes many shapes in her work including her depiction of its energy in people and place and in the physical light of the west of Ireland.
Michelle lives in Galway and Clare and has studied art up to second level and has cultivated her skills personally and in community through developing art groups (Spirit art group). She is also a trained psychotherapist and uses art processes in her art therapy work (www.heart 2heart.ie). She has previously exhibited in Culturlann Sweeny, Dublin (People’s Art), Galway (Maree Community Centre, Kilcornan) . The exhibition runs from the 11th of May – 1st of June, with an official launch with the artist present taking place on Saturday the 26th of May at 7 pm at Cultúrlann Sweeney. All are welcome to attend.

Sunday, 13th May 2018
St. Brigid’s Well and the Legacy of Cornelius O’Brien
Meet in the church car park, Miltown Malbay for a 2 pm departure or at the Rock Shop, Liscannor at 2.30 pm.

This is an Old Kilfarboy Society walk guided by Martina McCarthy. St Brigid is an important local saint in Liscannor. On this guided walk you will hear how her life and acts continue to be celebrated here at her Holy Well on her Pattern Day on the 1st February. Hear how the vestiges of the ancient Celtic Festival of Lughnasa have endured in this area through the ages and continue to be celebrated on the 15th August. Learn about the local landlord Cornelius O’Brien, who is reputed to have received a cure from the Holy Waters of St. Brigid’s Well. You will see his final resting place and the memorial that was built in his name as the father of Clare Tourism and the original developer of the Cliffs of Moher as a tourist attraction.

18th May - 3th June, 2018
Burren in Bloom
Various venues across the Burren, Co. clare.

The festival will be an exciting series of walks, talks, demos and open gardens throughout the Burren focused on the 18th-20th May with additional walks before and after the weekend. Walks are €10 and €5 for Burrenbeo Trust members unless otherwise stated.
Note: some of the events will require booking beforehand as numbers are restricted.
The Festival will give people an understanding and appreciation of the Burren and its formation, and how it is a source of great botanical, archaeological, and cultural wealth with its unique wild flowers and ancient sites.

Fleadh Nua

2018 Fleadh Nua in Ennis promises to be an exciting and innovative festival, full to the brim with Concerts, Ceilis, Sessions, CD Launches, Recitals, Irish Dance competitions and Street Entertainment. Since 1974 Fleadh Nua has developed from a 3 day event to a festival spanning 8 days, with more than 120 separate events, where there is a welcome for everyone.

Embrace for Arts and People with Disabilities Exhibition and Event
glór, Ennis

For 17 years the Clare Arts Office has partnered with local organisations such as the HSE, Enable Ireland, The Dulick Centre, West Clare Mental Health and the Brothers of Charity to provide and an ongoing successful Embrace Arts & Disability Programme for adults and children who have an interest in pursuing and enjoying the arts.
This year’s Embrace 2018 programme engaged with 14 organisations , 11 professional artists and 300 participants. In 2018 the Embrace participants were invited to create new arts works and performances in response to the theme of ‘’Home ‘’. Working with local professional artists through a wide range of mediums and forms including environmental art, film, animation, textiles, mosaic, music, dance and drama.

Killaloe Chamber Music Festival
Killaloe, Co. Clare.

The 6th annual Killaloe Chamber Music Festival, featuring a mix of eight concerts over a single weekend, will run from Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th of May in the Heritage town of Killaloe, Co. Clare, and opens with the Irish premiere of children’s chamber opera ‘Brundibár’, starring Limerick Children's Choir ‘Cantette’, accompanied by members of the Irish Chamber Orchestra and directed by Limerick-born Marc Atkinson. The Festival will be opened by Czech-born, award-winning author, and Holocaust survivor Tomi Reichental.

Clare Burren Marathon Challenge.
Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare.

A road, green road and trail challenge across the beautiful scenic Burren organised by Ballyvaughan-Fanore Walking Club. Enjoy some of Europe's most unique landscapes and see the rioches of the Burren in bloom. Each participant has a choice of full, half or mini marathon. All three challenges start in Ballyvaughan, co. Polska Eire Festival
Clare Museum Ennis

As part of the National Polska Eire Festival 2018, five Clare based visual art and textile artists will exhibit their work at the Clare Museum for two weeks. The exhibition which opens on the 28th of May features a broad range of work by Polish artists Pawel Maciag, Karolina Pajenckovskyte, Beata Murzyn,Aleksandra Komar and Anna Afshar. Polska Éire Festival was established in 2015 under the auspices of Minister of State Aodhán Ó Ríordáin and the Polish Embassy in Dublin. Every edition of the festival is organized by the Polish and Irish organizations and managed by the group of devoted Polish and Irish members of the Polska Éire Steering Committee, chaired by Mr. Piotr Rakowski from the Polish Embassy in Dublin. The exhibition runs from the 28th May – 9th of June and all are welcome to attend.
