Riches of Clare 2007
|
Summer Wednesday Lunchtimes can only mean the beginning of the Riches of Clare free lunchtime concert series, now in its third year. This Clare Arts Office traditional music series will again visit Ennis and almost every corner of Clare over eleven weeks of the summer. The lunchtime concerts will feature a selection of traditional musicians based in the county and start on May 23th and continue each Wednesday (throughout June and July) until August 1st. The series was hugely successful over the past two years. “We have had such a positive response to the concerts over the past two years, both from audience and musicians. An important aspect to the series is the fact admission is free, which we hope will encourage people to come along and brighten up their day with a few tunes at lunchtime!” says Finola Ryan, co-ordinator of the concerts. The series opens in Ennistymon Library on May 23rd with a concert of music in association with Age & Opportunity and the Bealtaine nationwide festival featuring Tommy and Siobhan Peoples, Cyril O’Donoghue and John Maloney. This year sees the series continuing its tour around the county, stopping in Ennis for seven weeks before continuing onto Sixmilebridge, Kilrush and Ballyvaughan. Look out for posters and bookmarks of the series which are currently distributed throughout the county. The Riches of Clare series is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
