Rusell Cultural Center, Doolin, Co. Clare.
Saturday, February 10th at 8.30 p.m.
The Arts Office of Clare County Council are delighted to bring 'The Gallant John-Joe' by Tom McIntryre to the Russell Cultural Centre, Doolin on Saturday, February 10th at 8.30 p.m. The Gallant John-Joe, is a one man play performed by acclaimed actor, Tom Hickey. The show is touring throughout Ireland to great acclaim, and will be in Clare for one performance only.
The Gallant John-Joe is a play about an ageing male, troubled, fearful, where we are led into the bleak but colourful domain of his own imagining. There is a strange double-level to the action, we are free to ask if John Joe is describing events from the 'real' world. His seanachie skills bring five other participants before us, his daughter Jacinta, the "Boss Man", the "Chinee", the "Hitmatist" and the legendary captain of the Cavan football team of the late forties, John Joe O'Reilly.
Tickets are available on the door. Please come early as the show is expected to draw a large audience.
