A day long exhibition of John Lennon and Beatles Memorabilia will take place at the
DeValera Library on Friday 29th, September. The display will include relevant
material on John Lennon (1940 - 1980) including LP covers, bootleg albums, scrapbooks,
photographs, video footage and material from the Official Beatles Fan Club.
Had Lennon lived he would be 60 on October 9th. It was hoped to stage the presentation on this date; however, it has been brought forward to Friday, September 29th.
John Lennon met Paul McCartney on July 6th 1957 and they formed the finest and most imaginative rock band of all, bringing humour and intelligence to the genre. George Harrison joined in 1958. A series of drummers cane and went before Ringo Starr replaced Pete Best in 1962. The Beatles served a gruelling apprenticeship on the clubs of the North of England and Germany before achieving world fame.
The exhibition and talks will be given by Ollie Byrnes and is open to all from 11 am Friday, September 29th.
