The Sweeney Memorial Public Library, Kilkee, has a stock of over 10,600 books for adults, and 5,500 books for children, and there are seven free public access internet PCs.
This Library was founded in the 1950s with money bequeathed
from Dr. William J. Sweeney, Union City, New Jersey whose grandfather
was born in Kilkee in 1833.

Library wishes to advise that the Sweeney Memorial Public Library,
O’Connell Street, Kilkee will be closed for refurbishment from Monday
24th January 2011
until further notice. In the interim, the library service will operate
from Kilkee Community Centre, Circular Road.
