The Banner is Best for Books

If you are looking for a book, the most likely place to find it is at the Clare County Library, according to the BorrowBooks.ie service. The online library loans service, which was launched in February, shows that the Clare library is the top supplier of books on interlibrary loan, supplying 521 books to dozens of libraries around the country. The BorrowBooks service brings together all of the online public library catalogues in one website for the convenience of the general public. With the BorrowBooks.ie service, library members can search for an item, not available in Clare County Library's stock, across all of the online catalogues of the public library authorities simultaneously. Once the item is located, the user can request delivery of the item to their local branch.
Clare County Librarian, Noel Crowley, said they were delighted to have consistently been the top supplier of books on interlibrary loan in the country. "This strong performance reflects our extensive catalogue of books, which is updated on a regular basis. BorrowBooks allows a user in Lisdoonvarna to discover the item they are looking for in Wicklow's collection and have it delivered to their local library. For example, Clare County Library has borrowed 364 books on behalf of its borrowers from other county library services. Non-fiction books represent the bulk of material requested", he said.
