Getting Caught ReadingClare People, Tuesday, 11th April 2006 New Quay National School student Roisin Tyrell was presented with a new digital camera by Patricia Fitzgerald, Ennis Library and County Librarian, Noel Crowley at the school earlier this month. Watched by her teachers and classmates Roisin collected the camera after winning the "Getting Caught Reading" photography competition which was part of Clare's celebrations of World Book Day. The competition saw hundreds of children from schools in every part of the county take part. Each student was asked to submit a photograph which represented different aspects of someone being caught reading. Roisin's
winning photograph depicts a group of Barbie Dolls gathered around on
specially made furniture and reading home-made books and magazines. The
idea borrowed from the popular cartoon Toy Story which sees toys come
alive to play, and in this case read, when no-one is looking. |
