Wild Reading in LisdoonClare Champion, Friday, 6th July 2007Lisdoonvarna Library will host The Big Wild Reading Challenge this summer. The purpose of the Challenge, which began last Monday, is to have children read as many books as possible on the theme of fiction, science and nature. Now in its ninth year, the Big Wild Read has become synonymous with the slogan "grow more readers - grow more trees", as they try to educate children about the importance of caring for the environment. From this week onwards, there will be a special tree poster at Lisdoonvarna Library where children can write a paragraph about their chosen book on a leaf, which will then be attached to the poster. Upon completion of the challenge in September, participating readers will receive a certificate and a special gift pack. To take part in the challenge contact Lisdoonvarna Library, telephone 065-7074029. |
