Movie Screening - 'A Walk in the Woods', a Bealtaine Festival
Event
Ennistymon Public Library at 11.30am
The library will take part in the Bealtaine Film Tour, which is
presented by access>CINEMA in partnership with the Irish Film
Institute, with a special screening of the 2015 movie 'A Walk
in the Woods'. After two decades of living in the UK, renowned
travel writer Bill Bryson (Robert Redford) returns to America
with his English wife Cathy (Emma Thompson). In an attempt to
find a way to reconnect with his homeland, he impulsively decides
to hike the Appalachian Trail, a trek of over 2,000 miles stretching
from Maine to Georgia. With Cathy protesting against the idea
of Bill doing the trip solo, an out-of-the-blue call from old
friend Katz (Nick Nolte), offering to accompany him, seems like
the perfect solution. But as their journey unfolds, this odd couple
realise that they may have underestimated the scale of the adventure
they have undertaken. Based on Bill Bryson’s best-selling
1998 memoir, 'A Walk in the Woods' is a gentle comedy that combines
breath-taking scenery with the charming chemistry of its two veteran
stars, who are clearly enjoying themselves. “…a gentle
examination of friendship and man’s relationship with himself,
others and nature; although these ideas are part of the scenery,
with knock-about humour the main event.” - Eye for Film;

of widespread corruption and cynicism in Washington politics,
he becomes determined to hang on to his principles. “Not

one of the simple human dramas that often go unremarked in the
shadow of the dramatic events of Easter 1916; it provides some
insight into the motivational complexities of the young men who
took part in the events of Easter 1916 and, in the case of Harry
Shiels, it reveals to those who knew him as an old man much that
he was reticent about in his own time. The session will take place

Group (IWDG) will screen the film The Humpback Whales of Cape

whales from both the northern and southern hemispheres use the
Cape Verde archipelago as a breeding ground. The Irish made film
