- Original Cartoons, an exhibition
by Vincent Hunt - from 20th December 2004 until early January
2005, at Ennistymon Public Library.
- WINTER SKIES - Paintings
by Sara Foust, 6th - 18th December 2004 at Ennistymon Public
Library.
- The Annual Christmas Craft Fair
takes place in Sean Lemass Public Library, Shannon from the
6th to 11th December inclusive. All items are hand made by
local crafts people.
- Art Exhibition. The Inis
Artists are exhibiting their work during the month of December
in the Libraries in the South Clare Region: Sean Lemass Public
Library, Shannon, Newmarket-on-Fergus Public Library and Kilfinaghty
Public Library, Sixmilebridge. The Inis Artists are based
in County Clare and are interested in promoting access to
their work. Their exhibition comprises of works for sale by
a number of artists in various media and styles. The exhibitions
will be on display in these Library branches until the 22nd
December 2004.
- MUSICAL EVENING: Entertainment,
Information & Participation with the McCormack
Singers directed by Clem Garvey, marking Shannon Library's
21st Birthday Celebrations in Sean Lemass Public Library,
Shannon, Friday 5th November 2004,at 7.30 pm. Admission Free

Book Festival 2004 15th - 29th October, events in every
branch library
- Summer Reading Scheme Certificates will
be presented at De Valera Public Library, Ennis, on Thursday,
7 October at 7pm. Jamesie O'Connor will be handing out the
certs, and spot prizes of book vouchers and leisure centre
vouchers will be drawn. All children who participated in the
scheme are welcome to attend.

- Going to College, Leaving Home:
An information display by Shannon Youth Office will be on
display in Sean Lemass Public Library, Shannon during the
month of September.
- Author Ré Ó Laighléis
visits the Library: On the 29th & 30th September
2004, author Ré O’Laighléis will visit
Sean Lemass Library, Shannon. A writer in both English and
Irish languages, Ré’s work is popular with Young
Adults. He is the author of An Punk agus Scèalta
Eile, and Ecstasy and Other Stories.
- Wealth of Whales and Dolphins:
An exhibition from the Department of the Environment, Clare
Co. Council will be on display in Sean Lemass Library, Shannon
from 13th - 25th September 2004.
- Craft Fair Meeting: A meeting
to commence preparations for Annual Christmas Craft Fair will
take place in Sean Lemass Library, Shannon on Tuesday, 14th
September at 7.00 p.m. All are welcome.
- Interesting Insects: An
exhibition from the Heritage Office of Clare County Council
will run in Sean Lemass Library, Shannon from 5th to 11th
September 2004.
- Photographic exhibition:
"Páistí Pailistineacha 2004", or Children
of Palestine. This series of photographs were taken by Inaki
Irigoien, a Basque photographer now living in Ireland, and
images collected by Palestinian civilians in Summer 2003.
The Photographs are accompanied with text by Sean O Donaile.
This exhibition is on display in Sean Lemass Public Library,
Shannon until 6th September 2004.
- Art Exhibition: De Valera
Public Library's Art Gallery, Ennis, hosts an art exhibition
entitled 'Human Condition' by local artists John Lane, John
Collins and Michael O'Connor from Monday, 9th August to Saturday,
21st August.
- Abbey Theatre One Hundred
talk by Vincent Woods in De Valera Public Library, Ennis,
on Friday, 20th August 2004 at 7.30 pm. Vincent Woods, poet
and playwright, is presently involved in developing an Abbey
script. Plays include 'At the Black Pig's Dyke'.
- Playtime Session for children
aged 3-6 every Wednesday from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at Seán
Lemass Public Library, Shannon - involves storytelling, crafts,
art, jigsaws, games, etc.: July-August 2004
- Two Art Workshops for children
ages 5-12 approximately will be held with artist Imelda Greene
on Thursdays, 5th & 19th July 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at Seán

5th - 17th July, 2004
- Kilrush Art Group Exhibition. An exhibition
by members of The Kilrush Art Group will take place in Kilrush
Public Library from Thursday the 15th to Thursday the 29th
of July. The exhibition, featuring work created by local artists,

Museum Exhibition at Shannon Library: June – September
2004
- Art Exhibition
An exhibition of paintings by local artists will be on display
in Kilrush Public Library from 24th - 28th June 2004. The
exhibition is part of the Kilrush Community Arts Festival
organised by VTOS.
- Travel and Working Abroad:
An information display by Shannon Youth Office will run in
Sean Lemass Public Library, Shannon from 15th to 30th June
2004. The information on display will be of special interest
to young adults seeking employment and travelling in other
countries.
- Top Tips on Exam Strategy: An
information display entitled Top Tips on Exam Strategy
by Shannon Youth Office is currently on display in Sean Lemass
Public Library, Shannon, and will run until 25th June 2004.
- Information Morning for Public and
Voluntary Service Providers will take place in Sean
Lemass Public Library, Shannon, on Thursday, 3rd June at 10.30
a.m. This is a special opportunity for public and voluntary
service providers to acquire a greater awareness of the public
and voluntary services available in the Shannon, Newmarket
and Sixmilebridge areas and to meet other personnel in related
services. There will be an accompanying information display
in the library from 3rd to 30th of June inclusive.

- "The Gold of Tradaree",
a community play by Miriam Gallagher - Newmarket on Fergus
Public Library, Tuesday, 18th May at 7.30 p.m.
An open reading of this new play will take place in the Newmarket
on Fergus Public Library on Tuesday, May 18th at 7.30 p.m.
The play is a celebration of Newmarket on Fergus and its community
and was especially commissioned by Clare County Council under
the Per Cent for Arts Scheme in association with the latest
development of local authority houses at Kilnasoolagh, Newmarket
on Fergus. All are welcome.
- Mapping Joyce – Making a Life’s
Work Accessible
Shannon & Ennis - 4th to 21st May 2004
To celebrate the Bloomsday Centenary, an exhibition entitled
'Mapping Joyce' will run concurrently in Seán Lemass
Public Library,Shannon and De Valera Public Library, Ennis
from May 4th to 21st 2004. The exhibition makes James Joyce
and his work more accessible and deals with the writer's life,
his major works and the remarkable international spread of
his literary influences through translations of "Ulysses"
in particular.
- Celebrating Irish Festivals
deValera Public Library, Ennis, Tuesday, May 18th at 11.00
a.m. Ruth Marshall, author of Celebrating Irish Festivals
hosts a talk on Celtic and Christian festivals of Ireland,
their traditions and innovative ways of celebrating such occasions.
- In My Father’s Time
Kilfinaghty Public Library, Sixmilebridge, Thursday, May 13th
at 7.00 p.m.
Organised by Shannon Arts Office in association with Clare
County Library to celebrate Bealtaine, the festival of creativity
in older age. A 35 minute recital called “The Poet
and the Piper” followed by an hour long talk on
“Clare’s Life and Lore” by noted folklorist

- Music Workshops
A series of music workshops has been organised for older people
in libraries throughout County Clare to celebrate Bealtaine,
