24th July - 7th August 2007
- Harry Potter Workshop - De
Valera Branch, Ennis at 4.00pm on Friday, 20th July. This workshop
will be hosted by Ciara McParland. Admission is free but places
are limited. It is aimed at 8-12 year olds and all participants
must dress as a Harry Potter character. The two best-dressed
characters will win a copy of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows'. Bookings can be made at 065-6846353 during library
opening hours.
- Harry Potter Workshop - Sean
Lemass Public Library, Shannon will celebrate the launch of
the Harry Potter book on Friday, 20th July at 2.00pm with a
Drama workshop by Ciara McParland. Ciara McParland of CBF Rap
Workshop fame will run a Harry Potter session in the Shannon
Library to mark the release of the J. K. Rowling’s title
‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’.
Children aged 9 to 13 years are invited in fancy dress and the
two best dressed Harry Potter characters will receive one copy
each of the book, after the official launch date of July 21st.
The aim of the workshop is to bring children on an imaginary
journey into the magical world of Harry Potter and his life
at Hogwarts school of wizardry. Children are encouraged to explore
and dramatize the book’s characters through role-play,
story telling, drama, quizzes and games. The workshop aims to
increase children’s passion for reading and it is designed
to be a fun and exciting educational adventure. Advance booking
is essential!
- Harry Potter Workshop - To
mark the release of "Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows",
Killaloe library is running a workshop with Ciara McParland
on Friday 20th July at 11.00am. 30 children (8-12 years) in
fancy dress will enjoy an hour long fun and exciting workshop.
The aim is to increase participant's passion for reading and
learning by actively engaging them in the literary world that
is particularly accessible and exciting for children through
role-play, story telling, drama, quiz's and games.
- Empowering the People: The Career
and Achievements of Dr. Brendan O'Regan
Sean Lemass Public Library, Shannon 2nd July - 15th August 2007
The
Exhibition was inspired by the Dr. Brendan O'Regan Archive
presented to Clare County Library by Shannon Development Company/Shannon
Heritage. A free booklet accompanies the Exhibition which was
created by the Clare Museum. The Library provides recorded interviews
with Dr. O'Regan which are accessible in the Library on Audio
CD disks.

Ennis Artists are having an art exhibition in Kilkee Library
5th - 18th June 2007
- Shannon Community Workshop Art Exhibition
A first Art Exhibition by the Shannon Community Workshop and
Community Employment employees. All participants are based around
the Shannon Region. The Shannon Community Workshop is forty
year old, and operates out of the Shannon Industrial Estate.
It is supported by the H.S.E. and FAS. Over one hundred colourful
works in mixed media by 30 people will be on exhibition in Sean
Lemass Public Library, Shannon, from the 28th May until Friday
22nd June incl.
- Expressions
'Expressions' is the theme of an Art Exhibition by Transition
Year and 4th Year students attending St. Patrick's Comprehensive
College, Shannon. The subject matter will be Portraits, and
the medium acrylic. Sean Lemass Public Library 8th - 18th May
2007.
- 'Ennis - My Home Town'
An exhibition of photos and art by 3rd Class pupils of Ennis
National Schools is on display in the Children's Section of
de Valera Public Library from Thursday 26th April until Friday,
11th May, 2007. The display is organised by Ennis Pastoral Council.
- Spinning and Weaving
Geraldine O'Sullivan will demonstrate the arts of spinning and
weaving at de Valera Public Library on Tuesday, 8th May at 11.30
a.m. as part of the Bealtaine Festival. All are welcome to attend.
- Really Useful English
Classes in Really Useful English delivered by Clare Adult Basic

- Interculturalism
Posters by children from twenty three countries attending St.
Conaire's National School in Shannon are currently displayed
in Sean Lemass Public Library, Shannon.
The colourful posters in the first languages of the children,
depict their love of books and reading with the flags and alphabets
of their native countries.
The display continues in Sean Lemass Public Library from 19th
April until 8th May.
- 'Flowers & Cows'
A Painting Exhibition by Neil & Riana Breebaart in Sean
Lemass Public Library, Shannon, 13th - 30th April 2007. Both
artists are from Pretoria. They work with oils on large canvases.
- From There to Here
A Clare Museum Exhibition relating to the State visits of the
Hillery Presidency 1976 - 1990. Visit the exhibition and pick
up a free illustrated guidebook in Sean Lemass Library from

Book Day, 1st March 2007 - Readathon
To mark this day, a Readathon will be held in all libraries
that are open on the day; Ennis, Ennistymon, Kildysart, Kilkee,
Killaloe, Kilrush, Lisdoonvarna, Miltown Malbay, Newmarket-on-Fergus,
Shannon, Sixmilebridge and Tulla.
Schools and members of the public are invited to do short readings
from books of their choice throughout the day in the library.
Book your place by contacting your local library. Contributions
may be made, if desired, to Book Aid International which provides
books for children in Sub-Saharan Africa and Palestine. For
