Film "Incredibles 2" Cert PG

Everyone’s favourite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen is in the spotlight, leaving Bob at home with Violet and Dash to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible. Author of ‘Pilgrim Paths in Ireland - A Guide’ and regular contributor to the Irish Times and Newstalk, John G. O’ Dwyer will speak about the latest edition of his guidebook, the recent re-awakening of these ancient routes and the new Irish Pilgrim Passport along with the development of the Celtic Camino, which combines pilgrim walking in Ireland and Spain.

Scariff Library History Group presents: "From the Ulster Borderlands to the Sliabh Aughty Uplands: The Cultural Legacy of the Ultach Migrants"
Scariff Public Library at 7.30pm

Speaker Dr. Christy Cunniffe is employed as Community Archaeologist by the Heritage Office of Galway County Council. As part of his engagement with communities he has been exploring the archaeology of the Sliabh Aughty region for the past number of years, and has recorded significant material that can be clearly linked to what was one of Ireland's largest, but forgotten, internal migrations in the recent past.

Film Club - The Imitiation Game

Scariff Library film club presents 'The Imitiation Game'. In 1939, newly created British intelligence agency MI6 recruits Cambridge mathematics alumnus Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) to crack Nazi codes, including Enigma -- which cryptanalysts had thought unbreakable. Turing's team, including Joan Clarke (Keira Knightley), analyze Enigma messages while he builds a machine to decipher them. Turing and team finally succeed and become heroes, but in 1952, the quiet genius encounters disgrace when authorities reveal he is gay and send him to prison. Cert 12. Film Book Club - ‘The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society’

New Film Book Club starting January 2019

Our first film is based on the 2008 novel of the same name, written by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. In 1946 a London-based writer begins exchanging letters with residents on the island of Guernsey, which was German-occupied during WWII. Feeling compelled to visit the island, she starts to get a picture of what it was like during the occupation. Cert 12
