Local History Sources

This project involved collecting information and compiling volumes of sources for the study of areas in County Clare. CLASP produced volumes for:

• Kilkee
• Kilrush
• Corofin
• Sixmilebridge
• Scariff
• Tulla
• Killaloe
• Miltown-Malbay
• Lisdoonvarna
• Kildysart
• Newmarket-on-Fergus
• Shannon
• Clarecastle
• Kilmurry McMahon

Some of these volumes run to 800 pages. Volumes for Lahinch, Spanish Point, Ballyvaughan, Kilfenora, Kilshanny, Kilmihil, Cooraclare, Ballynacally, Killimer, Lissycasey, Labasheeda and Kilnaboy are researched by the trainees. A volume for Ennis is at the binders.

The trainees researched and collected all the information available on each area in the Local Studies Centre, Clare County Library. Some trainees involved in the volumes researched included Linda McMahon, Niamh Brennan, Sandra Lynch, Sinead Armstrong, Tara Greenway, Colin O'Neill, Thomas Meehan, Adrian Healy and Patricia McSweeney.
