Parliamentary Papers
The British Government commissioned papers relating to
proceedings for the relief of distress and to show the state of the Unions
and Workhouses in Ireland from 1845 to 1853. All references to the famine
in Clare have been transcribed from these papers, typed into the computer
and published on the library webiste as "Reports
and Returns Relating to Evictions in the Kilrush Union 1849: Presented
to both houses of Parliament by Command of her Majesty, London"
. The trainees involved in this project were Karen Liddane, Mary Considine,
Mary McNamara, Noelle Longe and Fiona Reddan.
